FORESTRY WORK DAY
The cloudy skies of Sept 22 were favorably cool for the 30
hardworking volunteers who showed up to cut trees, dislodge hornets’
nests (ouch!!), muck old sheep dung (yuck!!), pile wood, clear
overgrowth and generally tidy up (BIG-TIME) around our beloved manor
house, manager’s dwelling and the horse barn that also houses the (soon
to be in business again) maple sugar shack. Volunteers were rewarded for
their toil with large quantities of food and beverages that quickly
disappeared. Snakes, moles and salamanders scattered as our hardy crew
dislodged years of rotting wood, blow-downs, weeds and what-have-you.
Members of H&AA and volunteers from the equine
contingent, volunteers from the NJ Forestry Service and employees from the
Division of Parks and Forestry pitched in.
Nice work, all you guys and gals.
It was a tough job. Well done!!
